Can I make a suggestion? I believe youve got one thing great here. But what if you added a couple links to a webpage that backs up what you are stating? Or maybe you can give us something to look at, something that would connect what youre saying to some thing real? Just a suggestion.

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome. I'm not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Many thanks

I've been running a similar concept in New Zealand for the last few years - an open business/location directory with CC Attribution licensed data. It's pretty successful now with over 100,000 unique visitors a month (population 4 million in NZ!) and an active community.

Haven't used solr so far (Ferret + PostGIS) but am looking at transitioning currently

It's the data that we want to open - allow it to be community edited, and available for use in other projects.

The code for searching the data is lucene/solr based, so there is already a good open source solution for that. If we happen to develop something interesting along the way for working with this we would release it, but this isn't our focus.

Some of the tools that we develop for managing, backing up and editing the data may also open sourced.

Edit: I should also add that there hasn't been any activity on this project for a few months, but hope to get back to it in the fall.

I'm interested in knowing more about this open business directory. Is the code going to be open-sourced, or is it just the data? Or perhaps neither - maybe the 'open' means something else?

Silly that it doesn't track the state through airplane mode on/off.

To turn CF on and off, I stopped using Setting/Phone/Call Forwarding. Now I have a "Call Forward Home" entry in my address book with the number *21*99999999999# (replacing 9s with my home number) , and "Call Forward Off" number #21# . Both of those are set as favorites, so I can quickly turn on and off the forwarding. Other carriers may use a different code than the 21.

If I enable airplane mode, then disable it, the CF icon is not on. I have to go into Settings, Phone, CF. Then the icon comes back. This is nearly as bad as no icon at all.
